NCA NCASC Policies
1.0 AUTHORITY
1.1 The lifeguards will be responsible for enforcing the North Cape Arthur Swim Club (NCASC) pool rules and policies. They are authorized to restrict any actions of pool users which, in their judgment, may be prejudicial to the health and safety of others or destructive to property. The lifeguards have the authority to expel any person from the pool area for disciplinary reasons and recommend further action to the NCASC Board of Directors (The Board). The Board will be the final authority in respect to all actions resulting from infractions of the pool rules.
1.2 Disciplinary Action for misconduct will result in:
1st write up may be an appropriate time out from the water.
2nd write up may be up to a 4 day suspension from all pool activities including swim team events.
3rd write up may be revocation of membership without refund.
1.3 No member has the authority to direct the lifeguards concerning pool operations or the enforcement or application of these rules. While suggestions by members for changes in the rules or in the operation of the pool facilities are invited, these suggestions should be directed to the Board.
2.0 LIABILITY
2.1 All persons using the pool facilities do so at their own risk. NCASC and its pool management contractor are not and will not be responsible for any accidents, personal injuries, property losses or damages of any kind. In any event, members will report all accidents, personal injuries, property losses and damages to the on-duty lifeguard immediately.
2.2 Members are liable for any damages they cause to NCASC property and will be assessed accordingly. They are similarly liable for any property damages caused by their guests.
3.0 POOL OPERATIONS
3.1 At least one Anne Arundel County certified pool operator/lifeguard will open and be present during all periods of pool operation.
3.2 Once an hour during regular open swim periods, the pool will be cleared of all swimmers under the age of 18 years for a 15 minute long adult swim period. During the adult swim period, every courtesy will be extended to lap swimmers. When one lifeguard is on duty, the pool will be totally cleared every hour for 10 minutes.
3.3 The pool may be closed, at the discretion of the on-duty lifeguard, during periods of emergencies, inclement weather, or required maintenance. Such closings will occur only with the concurrence of the NCASC President, or a designated Board Representative. The wading pool will be closed during all home swim meets.
3.4 Any person found in the pool enclosure during times other than scheduled or Board-approved hours, or without the presence of a lifeguard, is subject to immediate and indefinite expulsion from the facilities. Non-member trespassers will be prosecuted.
4.0 POOL ADMISSION
4.1 The pool facilities are open to NCASC members and their guests only. The lifeguards will maintain a membership list and member sign-in logs at poolside.
4.2 Members will sign in and accompany their guests at all times. Members are responsible for their guests conduct. Any damages caused by guests will be assessed to the responsible member. Noncompliance of pool rules may result in the immediate suspension of the pool guests and their host family.
4.3 Guests may use the pool only once a week. Exceptions are made for house or overnight guests who may use the pool during their stays with NCASC members. Guests under the age of 13 must be accompanied by a resident of the home.
4.5 Any abuses of guest privileges, including any form of membership-splitting, will be brought to the attention of the Board and dealt with appropriately. The Board retains the prerogative to reasonably restrict guest privileges in the interests of the general membership.
